About the Roanoke Chapter

Chartered in 1994 by the American Sewing Guild, the Roanoke, VA Chapter began meeting in the fall of 1993 with about a dozen members.  Since then, the chapter has evolved into a dynamic, thriving membership, representing virtually every type of sewing there is, with about 100 members.  In August of 2011, the Lynchburg, VA chapter of ASG became a Neighborhood Group of the Roanoke Chapter, thus providing an even wider range of programming and an increase in overall membership.  The geographic area now spans far beyond the Roanoke Valley to Lynchburg and surrounding areas to the East, to Greensboro, NC to the South, to Pulaski to the West and to Bluefield and Lewisburg, WV to the North.

The chapter meets monthly and provides an informational sewing-related program in addition to a brief business meeting.  Neighborhood groups (NG's) and Special Interest Groups (SIG's) meet all around the area once a month to share expertise about their particular area of interest, to enhance their sewing skills by learning from each other, and to socialize and have fun.  Nationally recognized sewing educators have been invited to present programs:  Sandra Betzina, Kenneth King, Shirley Adams, Cynthia Guffey, Linda McGehee, Susan Khalje and Pamela Leggett to name a few.  .

If you like to sew anything at all - whether it’s fashion, heirloom, quilting, smocking, home dec, wearable art – you’ll find something you like about the Roanoke, VA Chapter of the American Sewing Guild.  Guaranteed!
